Odell (Trask) Archibald grew up in the small town of Stephenville Crossing and is the youngest of eleven children. Odell is very passionate about her work drawing inspiration and ideas from her familiar surroundings and personal memories. She captures simple timeless moments in her art using her unique style of realism. Her love for family and country living is reflected in her work.
Odell has lived on the south coast of Newfoundland in Burgeo and Burin. She has come to appreciate and love the outport community lifestyle. She now resides in Kippens, Newfoundland with her husband and has three sons. She enjoys hiking, canoeing and spends most weekends at her cottage on a beautiful salmon river in Western Newfoundland
Odell has illustrated a book for Sleeping Bear Press, a publishing company in Michigan USA called P is for Puffin, A Newfoundland and Labrador Alphabet Book. This book was released fall, 2006. She was nominated for the Lillian Shepherd award for excellence in illustration for Atlantic Canada. |
